Sweden: Örebro Black Knights sign Sam Eisenstadt as new defensive coordinator

Örebro Black Knights head coach Timothy Speckman has added to his coaching staff with the signing of Sam Eisenstadt as his defensive coordinator.

Örebro plays in Sweden’s top league, the Swedish Superserien.

The 23 year old Eisenstadt comes to the Black Knights after spending this past season as defensive quality control and assistant linebacker coach at UC Davis (Div. I FCS) under former Carlstad Crusaders coach Dan Hawkins. The UC Davis coaching staff also includes Mark Speckman, the father of the Black Knights’s new head coach Timothy Speckman.

A native of Fair Haven, New Hersey, Eisenstadt  starred as a defensive back at Fair Haven HS, earning first-team All-Shore Conference accolades and helping his team capture the 2014 state title – during which he earned state championship MVP. He went on to Elon University in North Carolina, where he garnered CAA Academic All-Conference honors as a freshman. Unfortunately, he sustained a career-ending concussion as a redshirt freshman in 2016. He began his coaching career at Elon where he was assistant defensive secondary coach.

While relatively young as a defensive coordinator, Eisenstadt intends to use that as an advantage:

“It motivates me that I will be able to be defensive coordinator at 23, which is an opportunity not many coaches my age get and I want to go make the most of it. I believe building confidence on a daily basis will be a main focus. I have seen players maximize their potential when they are loose, confident, and having fun on the field. ”
