The Cologne Crocodiles (1-1) will host the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes (0-2) in this GFL North matchup.

Cologne will look to bounce back after losing in Dresden last week, while Kiel aims to play better this weekend than their first two outings.

Kiel has struggled to open the season as they’ve suffered consecutive blowout losses at the hands of the Potsdam Royals. Kiel will look to get their offense going as quarterback Joe Germinerio and the Hurricanes offense has yet to find a rhythm. Former Penn State (NCAA D1) receiver Weston Carr is a player to watch. The 6’2″ speedy wide out has the potential to be one Kiel’s go to guys.

Defensively, linebacker Darin Hungerford is an athletic defender that can help stop the run and short passes. Defensive back Marian Baecker provides the Kiel defense with veteran leadership and sure tackling. Baecker will have to communicate well with his secondary as a pass happy Crocodiles offense awaits him.

Cologne’s offense has been on fire this year. Behind solid offensive line play, quarterback Christian Strong has thrown for an average of 439 yards and four touchdowns a game. Strong has been able to connect well with receiver Markell Caste who has over 200 yards receiving in both of the Crocodiles games. Look for Cologne to keep spreading the ball around in their productive air raid offense.

The Crocodiles secondary is led by Emory Polley. The former Brown University (NCAA D1 FCS) and Japanese X-League standout is back for his second season in Cologne and has been very solid to start the 2021 campaign. Look for him to matchup with Kiel’s Weston Carr as these two former division one players should be fun to watch line up against each other.

Kiel is eager to play against someone other than Potsdam after consecutive losses to the talented Royals. Cologne on the other hand, looks to keep their potent passing attack in shape as they aim to challenge the GFL North’s top teams.
