German offensive lineman Jasper Friis commits to Deion Sanders and Jackson State

At 6’7″, and 330 pounds, Jasper Friis stands out as a potentially dominant offensive lineman. The half German, half Brazilian prospect has chosen to take his talents to the Jackson State University, joining head coach Deion Sanders and a number of top recruits heading to the historically black FCS university in the heart of Mississippi.

“I think JSU will be a good opportunity for me to refine my game and show my ability. Their coaching staff is experienced and the team is very talented. Our head coach Deion Sanders attracts lots of talent and because of that, this team will be very dominant.”

Friis, a native of Bavaria played for the Fursty Razorbacks and Munich Cowboys earning Bavarian All-State honors as a teenager. The massive lineman then transferred to Aquinas high school in California. Once arriving on the high school scene Friis’s large frame and quick feet caught the attention of college scouts from across the nation. foreign exchange student stayed close to his second home committing to the University of California after high school, choosing the Bears over Marshall and Austin Peay University.

After two seasons At Cal, Friis transferred to Iowa Central Community College opting to use the junior college as an avenue for his next college destination. After two seasons in Iowa, Friis gathered some impressive film attracting offers from programs such as Liberty, Hawaii, and Marshall. However, the German decided to take his talent south to Mississippi’s capital city and Deion “Primetime” Sanders.

Friis is just the latest in a large group of players to choose FCS Jackson State over more established FBS programs. NFL Hall of Famer and Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders has been able to sign the best class in the D1 FCS and the 105th best class in the nation according to 247sports. Coach Sanders has snatched up the nation’s top defensive back Travis Hunter and four-star receivers Kevin Coleman and Joannes Fortilien making the 2022 class one to watch out for.
