Black Panthers dominate Meteores in French D1 Elite clash

The Thonon Black Panthers (3–0) delivered a commanding performance, overwhelming the Fontenay Meteores (2–1) 42–7 in a French D1 Elite North Conference matchup that highlighted the gap between the league’s established powerhouse and a promising newcomer.

Ground game sets the tone
From the opening minutes, Thonon established dominance with a powerful rushing attack that amassed 244 yards on the ground. Running back Lucas Davoine proved unstoppable, scoring three rushing touchdowns as the Black Panthers controlled the clock and consistently moved the chains. The offensive line created massive running lanes, allowing Thonon to build an insurmountable lead through methodical, physical football.

Defense smothers Meteores
The Black Panthers’ defense was equally impressive, completely stifling the Fontenay offense and limiting them to just 69 total yards. The Meteores struggled to sustain drives or find any rhythm against Thonon’s defensive pressure. While Fontenay avoided the shutout with a consolation touchdown from Melvin Pelage, they were never truly competitive against the three-time defending French champions.

The victory reinforces Thonon’s status as the team to beat in the D1 Elite, while Fontenay gains valuable experience against the league’s gold standard. The Black Panthers continue their perfect start to the 2026 season, showing they remain the class of French American football with their balanced offensive attack and suffocating defense.
