Spain: Hurricanes top Osos Rivas in key LNFA West showdown
The Zaragoza Hurricanes (2–2–1) used a strong fourth-quarter push to defeat the Osos Rivas (2–2–1) 21–6 in a pivotal Spanish LNFA matchup, moving into second place in the Western Conference and flipping the head-to-head tiebreaker after a tightly contested defensive battle.
Defense sets the tone early
The first half was a gritty, low-scoring affair defined by turnovers. Zaragoza struck first after recovering a fumble, with quarterback Juan Baró punching in a rushing touchdown. Osos Rivas answered quickly after an interception by Marco Antonio Zárate set up a short scoring run by Kyle Jenkins, though a blocked extra point left the Hurricanes ahead 7–6 at halftime. Both defenses locked down in a physical third quarter, keeping it a one-point game entering the final period.
Baró delivers late to seal it
The Hurricanes finally broke through in the fourth quarter, once again leaning on their quarterback. Juan Baró scored two more rushing touchdowns to put the game out of reach, capitalizing on sustained drives and stiff defensive stands that limited Osos to just six points. The win not only improves Zaragoza’s record but also reverses the earlier head-to-head result against Osos Rivas, which could prove crucial in the tightly contested Western Conference playoff race.
