Sweden: Örebro Black Knights awarded victory over Tyresö Royal Crowns pending appeal
The Örebro Black Knights have been awarded a 1-0 victory over the Tyresö Royal Crowns following a decision by the competition committee, overturning the result of Tyresö’s 35-21 win at Behrn Arena and potentially reshaping the standings in Sweden’s Superserien.
The ruling remains subject to appeal after Tyresö formally challenged the decision. Apparently, according to a reliable source, the Royal Crowns were made aware of the situation before the game.
Competition committee makes ruling
On Monday evening, the competition committee (TU) announced that it had determined Tyresö used a player who was not eligible to participate under competition regulations.
According to the ruling, Robin Svalin did not complete a transfer within the designated transfer window after having represented the Stockholm Mean Machines in an official CEFL game during the 2025 season.
The committee concluded that Svalin was therefore subject to transfer regulations and was not eligible to play for the Tyresö Royal Crowns in the Superserien matchup against the Örebro Black Knights.
As a result, TU awarded the game to Örebro by a score of 1-0.
Appeal already underway
The matter is far from settled.
The committee’s decision can be appealed to the Sports Management Group (ILG) within 21 days, and Tyresö moved quickly to challenge the ruling.
According to the announcement, the Royal Crowns submitted their appeal to the ILG on Monday evening shortly after the TU decision was made public.
Kristofer Österberg reported a conflict of interest and did not participate in the committee’s decision-making process.
Standings impact remains uncertain
For now, the official result of the game has changed from a 35-21 victory for Tyresö to a 1-0 win for Örebro.
However, because the appeal process is ongoing, the final outcome remains uncertain.
Until the ILG reviews the case and issues its decision, both clubs will be waiting to learn whether the committee’s ruling stands or whether the original result will ultimately be restored.
