Czech Snapbacks League: Znojmo Knights stay hot with road win over Pilsen Patriots

The Znojmo Knights (7-1) continued their strong season on the road, defeating the Pilsen Patriots (2-6) 39-16 in Czech Snapbacks League action behind another explosive performance from receiver Zachary DeNike and quarterback Volodymyr Hrynkiv.

Playing in Pilsen, the Knights built momentum throughout the afternoon and gradually pulled away after a competitive first half.

Patriots hang around early

The visitors struck first midway through the opening quarter when Hrynkiv connected with Vojtěch Vojtěch for a touchdown.

Early in the second quarter, the Knights extended the lead to 13-0 on the first of DeNike’s four touchdown receptions. The Patriots responded quickly, however, as Patrik Vainer found the end zone to keep the home team within striking distance.

Despite the score remaining close, the Znojmo defense was making life difficult for the Pilsen offense. Maximilian Morawetz came up with three interceptions, helping the visitors maintain control of the game.

DeNike takes over

Before halftime, Hrynkiv and DeNike connected again for another touchdown, giving the Knights additional breathing room.

Adam Heller added a field goal for the Patriots, but Znojmo still carried a comfortable lead into the break.

Any hopes of a comeback faded during the third quarter.

Hrynkiv threw touchdown passes to Denis Kadrle and DeNike, allowing the Knights to open up a 32-9 advantage heading into the final period.

Knights finish strong

The Patriots managed one more touchdown when Vainer connected with Matěj Šlehofer early in the fourth quarter.

But DeNike wasn’t finished.

The American receiver capped his outstanding afternoon with his fourth touchdown catch of the game, including an 87-yard scoring play among his big contributions.

The final score finished 39-16 in favor of the Znojmo Knights, who improved to 7-1 and continued their push near the top of the Czech Snapbacks League standings.
