The Paris Lights (1-0) look to stay unbeaten when they host the Wroclaw Panthers (1-1) on Saturday in an important American Football League Europe matchup at home in Paris.

For Paris, it will be the second straight home game to kick off the season and another opportunity to build momentum after a successful debut. For Wroclaw, it is a chance to bounce back from a disappointing loss and show that the early promise displayed in the opening weeks is no fluke.

Lights gaining confidence

The Lights may be new to the league, but they showed plenty of potential in their season-opening 30-7 win over the Firenze Red Lions.

After a slow start, quarterback Evan Hillock settled into the game and helped guide the offense to 30 unanswered points. Tristen Wallace caught two touchdown passes, while Armand Soulerot scored twice as Paris gradually took control.

Defensively, Wilfried Pene delivered one of the most dominant performances of opening weekend, recording 10 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a tackle for loss. His ability to disrupt the pocket could become a major factor against Wang.

Panthers looking for cleaner football

The Panthers have already shown they can be dangerous.

After opening the season with an impressive 41-21 victory over the London Warriors, they followed it with a competitive performance against the Vienna Vikings. However, mistakes ultimately proved costly. The offense struggled to overcome five sacks, making it difficult for quarterback Jameson Wang to consistently find a rhythm.

The formula for success this week is straightforward. Protect Wang, establish the running game, and take advantage of scoring opportunities when they arise.

That starts with running back Dawid Brzozowski, one of the most explosive playmakers in European football. When Brzozowski is involved early and often, the Panthers become far more difficult to defend.

Dynamic passing attack

The connection between Wang and receiver Mike Harley Jr. has been one of the league’s most productive combinations through the opening weeks.

Harley enters the game as the AFLE leader in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, giving Wroclaw a legitimate game-changing weapon on every snap. The challenge for Paris will be finding a way to slow him down without allowing other targets to take over the game.

Defensive backs Marque Collins and Exavier Edward will likely have key roles in that effort.

Opportunity awaits

On paper, the Panthers may have the more established roster, but Paris has already shown it can compete.

With explosive offensive weapons on both sides and a pair of aggressive defenses looking to make their mark, this matchup has all the ingredients of one of the most entertaining games of the AFLE weekend.
