Ancona Dolphins sign Div. 1 standout QB Carter Cravens for 2026 Italian Football League season

The Ancona Dolphins, coming off an Italian Football League finals appearance in 2025, have found their new offensive leader with the signing of quarterback Carter Cravens for the 2026 season. The former Morehead State University standout brings both arm talent and mobility to the Dolphins‘ offense as the team looks to build on their recent success.

College career and skill set
The 6’2″, 210-pound quarterback from Cypress, Texas put together a solid four-year collegiate career, throwing for 5,893 yards and 35 touchdowns while adding 430 rushing yards and 9 additional scores on the ground. His most recent season in 2025 saw him throw for 1,880 yards with 11 touchdowns while completing 55% of his passes over 11 games. He also demonstrated his dual-threat capability by rushing for 197 yards and 3 touchdowns, helping lead the Morehead State Eagles to a 6-6 overall record that included a four-game winning streak to close the season.

Early impressions and fit
Ancona offensive coordinator Loris Aquinati has already been impressed with Cravens’ approach, noting his methodical study habits and proactive engagement with the team’s offensive system. The quarterback has been reviewing game footage from the Dolphins‘ 2025 season and has already begun suggesting adjustments to the playbook. This immediate dedication has created optimism within the organization about how quickly Cravens can adapt to the Italian Football League and help the team take the next step toward a championship.

Texas to Italy transition
Cravens follows in the footsteps of other Morehead State quarterbacks who have found success in Europe, including former Ancona player Vincent “Vici” Winey. His transition from Texas football to the European game represents another chapter in the growing pipeline of American talent finding opportunities in the IFL. With his combination of experience, athleticism, and early commitment to learning the system, Cravens gives the Dolphins reason to believe they’ve found their quarterback for what they hope will be another deep playoff run in 2026.
