Austria’s Swarco Raiders sign All SAC DB Davion Washington

The Swarco Raiders, seven-time Austrian champions, have signed Wingate University (NCAA Div. II) All SAC defensive back Davion Washington for the 2021 season.

The 6′, 195 pound Washington from Greenville, South Carolina, enjoyed an outstanding four-year career at Wingate and earned D2CCA All-Region honors and was a first team All-SAC, (South Atlantic Conference), selection in his final two seasons. As a senior in 2019, he led the team with 14 pass break ups to go along with 28 tackles and two interceptions. In 2018, he recorded 18 pass break-ups and three interceptions on the season, adding 50 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss to go along with a forced fumble and fumble recovery. The 2017 season saw Wingate win the SAC championship with Washington playing a key role. Over his four years, he played in 46 games for the Bulldogs, earning 36 victories, recording a total of 119 tackles, 38 pass break ups and six interceptions in his career.

After winning the 2019 Austrian title, the Swarco Raiders opted out of the 2020 Austrian Football League season due to the pandemic.

Swarco Raiders head coach Kevin Herron:

“With Davion we got another talented import player for our defense. For Davion, we are the first stop in Europe and we are happy to have signed a player of his caliber.”
