Badalona Dracs edge Osos Rivas in overtime thriller to return to Spanish title game

In a nail-biting semifinal clash, the Badalona Dracs secured their spot in the 2026 Spanish Bowl by defeating the Osos Rivas 20-14 in overtime. This victory marks the Dracs’ 20th championship game appearance, as they aim for their 12th title after finishing as runners-up last season.

Dracs dominate early
The Dracs asserted their dominance early, quickly taking control. On their first possession, quarterback Pol Singleton connected with Oriol Adrià for a 9-yard touchdown pass, putting Badalona up 6-0 after a failed two-point conversion. The Osos struggled on their first drive, and a botched snap during a punt attempt resulted in a safety, extending the Dracs’ lead to 8-0.

In the second quarter, the Dracs continued to press, reaching the end zone again with another touchdown pass from Singleton, this time to Eloi Soler, making it 14-0. The Osos attempted to respond, but an interception by Edward Mangun halted their momentum.

Osos roar back
The second half saw a dramatic shift in momentum. The Osos received the ball first and executed an impressive drive, culminating in a touchdown run by Kyle Jenkins, narrowing the score to 14-7. As the fourth quarter began, Jovan Bayless scored another touchdown for Rivas, tying the game at 14-14. Then defensive back Pedro Gómez picked off Singleton further shifting the tide, giving the Osos a chance to win, but they missed two field goal attempts in the closing minutes, sending the game into overtime.

Overtime heroics seal the win
In overtime, each team had a possession starting from the 25-yard line. The Dracs struck first with a touchdown pass from Singleton to Isaac Calatayud, taking a 20-14 lead after another failed two-point conversion. The Osos couldn’t respond though, as David Granell intercepted Osos quarterback Álvaro Cánovas, sealing the victory for Badalona.

The Dracs now look ahead to the championship game, determined to reclaim their title.
