Clark Hazlett: The globetrotting quarterback embarks on his seventh season of international play
When the Warsaw Eagles signed Clark Hazlett as their quarterback for the 2026 Polish Football League season, they were securing one of international football’s most accomplished and well-traveled quarterbacks. Hazlett is coming off his third consecutive New South Wales title with the UNSW Raiders in Australia. The 6-4, 220-pound signal-caller from Lynden, Washington is now preparing for his seventh professional season across his fourth continent, cementing his status as a premier quarterback on the global stage.
From Australian dominance to a new challenge in Poland
Hazlett’s most recent success came with the UNSW Raiders, where he orchestrated a dominant 48-6 victory over the UTS Gators in the 2025 Waratah Bowl, securing a third straight title for the franchise. His move to the Eagles represents a strategic next step in an already excellent career.
“Signing with the Eagles felt like the right step for me at this stage of my career, heading into my seventh year playing overseas in 2026,” Hazlett explained. “I’ve been fortunate to play on successful teams, and what drew me to the Eagles was the strong culture they’ve built and a shared commitment to doing things the right way while competing at a high level.” The opportunity also carries personal significance, as he noted, “With Polish heritage in my family, the opportunity to play in Poland allows me to connect with my roots while experiencing the country and culture firsthand.”
A Global Football odyssey: Excellence across continents
Hazlett’s international career showcases consistent excellence across the world’s top overseas leagues. Before his Australian triumph, he contributed as a quarterback coach for the Prague Lions in the European League of Football, helping them achieve a franchise-best 7-5 record. His playing career demonstrates remarkable versatility and success: a stint with the Pforzheim Wilddogs in the German Football League, two productive seasons in Mexico with the Gallos Negros and Tiburones de Cancún where he posted a 63% completion rate for 1,166 yards and 12 touchdowns, a championship-winning season as a player-coach for the Vysocina Gladiators in the Czech Republic, and time in France with the Pionniers de Touraine before the COVID-19 pandemic ended the campaign prematurely.
The drive behind international excellence
What motivates a quarterback to maintain elite performance across multiple continents and cultures? For Hazlett, it’s a deep passion for both competition and cultural exchange.
“What keeps me motivated is my love of competition, the chance to keep improving on and off the field, and the opportunity to keep playing football at a high level while experiencing life in different parts of the world,” he shared.
This global journey began after his college career at Linfield University (NCAA Div. III) and has taken him to increasingly competitive environments. He values “immersing yourself in different cultures, building bonds with teammates from all walks of life, and contributing to football communities wherever I go.” He also finds purpose in sharing his unique path, adding, “Sharing parts of that journey on my YouTube channel and helping grow the sport in new places drives me to keep working hard and stay focused every day.”
Bringing championship experience to the Eagles
Hazlett brings more than just physical skills to Warsaw; he brings a wealth of championship experience and proven leadership. Having excelled in vastly different systems across the world, he has mastered the art of high-level adaptation.
“I bring experience, leadership, and versatility,” Hazlett stated. “Playing in different countries has taught me to adapt my game and my preparation to each environment. I’ve had the privilege of playing with teams that have won championships, and I’ve focused on building trust in the huddle and supporting my teammates wherever I can.”
His focus is clear:
“Above all, I bring a competitive mindset and a commitment to work hard, keep learning, and help the team compete at the highest level.”
Valuing the complete experience
While championships mark career highlights, Hazlett’s perspective embraces the full scope of his international experience. He reflects that the true value lies in “the experiences, the lessons learned, and the relationships built along the way.” This mature outlook, combined with what he calls an “underdog mindset,” has prepared him for this next challenge in Poland. As Clark Hazlett joins the Warsaw Eagles, he arrives not just as a quarterback, but as a proven winner and cultural ambassador, ready to contribute to a new team while embracing the next chapter in his extraordinary football journey.
