Brno Sígrs kicker Marek Jucha booted four field goals, including the game-winner with less than two minutes left, leading the Sígrs (1-3) to their first victory of the Czech Snapbacks League season against the Ostrava Steelers (0-4) by a score of 27-24. Both teams entered the game winless, but it was the Sígrs who emerged triumphant on the road.
Early lead for Sígrs
The game started strong for the Sígrs, as Samuel Muniz caught a 12 yard touchdown pass and Jucha added a 44 yard field goal, giving Brno a 10-0 lead. However, the Steelers responded in the second quarter, with quarterback Dexter Russell punching the ball into the end zone from four yards out and Josef Škerek adding another touchdown to flip the score to 14-13 in favor of Ostrava at halftime.
Sígrs rally in the second half
The Steelers extended their lead early in the third quarter to 24-13, but the Sígrs began to chip away at the deficit. Jucha hit a 29 yard field goal to narrow the gap, and in the fourth quarter, Matej Kaňuch caught a touchdown pass from Ondřej Skoupý, tying the game at 24-24.
With less than two minutes left, Jucha trotted out on the field and calmly kicked a 36-yard field goal to seal the win for the Sígrs. This hard-fought victory marks a turning point for Brno as they look to build momentum in the Czech Snapbacks League.
