Czech Republic: Znojmo Knights rally to secure key home win against Nitra Knights
The Znojmo Knights (3-1) put on an impressive performance, especially in the second half in beating the Nitra Knights (2-2), 28-13 in a thrilling Czech Snapbacks League matchup.
After a sluggish start, Znojmo’s offense came alive, showcasing their talent and determination on home turf.
Nitra strikes first
Nitra opened the scoring with a strong drive, capped off by a 3-yard touchdown pass from Desmond Prusia to Mário Bíro. The Slovak defense held firm in the first quarter, keeping Znojmo at bay and maintaining a 7-0 lead.
Znojmo responds with a flurry
The second quarter saw Znojmo turn the tide. Petr Plaček ignited the crowd with a 1-yard touchdown run, followed by an explosive 47-yard dash to the end zone, putting the Knights ahead 14-7. Nitra quickly answered with another touchdown from Bíro, but Znojmo wasn’t done yet. Quarterback Volodymyr Hrynkiv connected with Vojtěch Vojtěch for a 25-yard touchdown just before halftime, extending their lead to 21-13.
Defense seals the win
In the second half, Znojmo’s defense stepped up, forcing three turnovers, including two interceptions by Charun Yakhyaev. Hrynkiv and Vojtěch linked up again for a 19-yard touchdown in the third quarter, solidifying Znojmo’s dominance.
With a strong finish, the hometown Knights celebrated a well-deserved victory, proving they are a force to be reckoned with in the Czech Snapbacks League.
