Dresden Monarchs bolster defense with signing of Canadian DE Sterling May
The Dresden Monarchs of the German Football League have strengthened their defensive front with the signing of versatile Canadian edge defender Sterling May, a 6’5″, 240-pound talent who brings four years of USPORTS experience from York University and recent international recognition with Team Canada.
Proven collegiate production
The 23-year-old from Victoria, British Columbia appeared in 23 games for York, recording 39 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and multiple forced turnovers throughout his career. His consistency and leadership were demonstrated by starting for four consecutive seasons despite multiple coaching changes during his tenure.
Versatile defensive weapon
May’s ability to play defensive end, linebacker, or safety provides Dresden with valuable schematic flexibility. His combination of size, athleticism, and high-motor playstyle aligns perfectly with the physical demands of the GFL, making him an immediate impact candidate for the Monarchs’ defensive rotation.
