ELF offensive stats leaders offers surprises

The European League of Football wound up its inaugural season this past weekend and with the playoffs looming, AFI presents the final regular-season stats leaders in the key offensive categories of passing, rushing, and receiving yardage.

The Wroclaw Panthers led the way with four players among the 15 in the three categories while the Barcelona Dragons had three as did the Leipzig Kings. The Cologne Centurions had two players on the list while the Frankfurt Galaxy, Berlin Thunder, and Hamburg Sea Devils all had on apiece. The Stuttgart Surge was the only team not represented.

Surprisingly, two teams dominated the Receiving category as both the Panthers and Dragons had two players each among the top five.

Wroclaw Panthers QB Lukas O’Connor topped all passers in the ELF throwing for 2,879 yards and 24 touchdowns. Zach Edwards of the Barcelona Dragons finished as the 2nd leading passer with his 2,514 yards and 21 TDs. Third place belongs to Frankfurt Galaxy QB Jakeb Sullivan who threw for 2,073 yards and 23 TDS. In fourth was Jan Weinreich of the Cologne Centurions who threw for 1,689 yards and 15 TDs while Leipzig Kings QB Michael Birdsong had 1,597 yards passing and 24 TDs, good for 5th.

The runaway rushing leader in the ELF was Madre London of the Cologne Centurions who had a remarkable year, rushing for 2,009 yards and 22 TDs, averaging 223 yards rushing per game.  Behind him in 2nd was Berlin Thunder RB Joc Crawford who had 1.057 yards. He was followed in 3rd by Xavier Johnson of the Hamburg Sea Devils with 714 yards with Philéas Pasqualini of the Wroclaw Panthers in 4th with 668 yards. The 5th leading rusher was Leipzig Kings Jason Aguemon with 518 yards.

Barcelona Dragons WR Jean Constant led all receivers with his 1,038 yards and 8 TDs while Jakub Mazan of the Wroclaw Panthers was a distant 2nd. He caught 53 passes for 793 yards and 6 TDs while his teammate, Przemysław Banat, wound up 3rd with 770 yards and 7 TDs. Dragons WR Rémi Bertellin finished 4th with 750 yards and Leipzig Kings WR Timothy Knuettel finished in 5th place with 701 yards and a league-best 12 receiving TDs.
