ELF: Stuttgart Surge fill quarterback spot; sign Aaron Ellis

The Stuttgart Surge of the European League of Football have filled their sudden quarterback vacancy with the addition of Aaron Adrian Ellis.

Ellis replaces Jacob Wright who was released by the team in the aftermath of the “racial slur” incident in last weekend’s game with the Frankfurt Galaxy.

The 25 year old Ellis had played for the Søllerød Gold Diggers in Denmark’s National League earlier this season before. Prior to this season, the 6’3″, 215 pound, 25 year old Ellis, a native of Valparaiso, Indiana, had signed to play for the Ostrava Steelers in the Czech Republic but the COVID-19 pandemic prevented it. He spent the 2019 season with the Frederikssund Oaks in Denmark. Although the team was forced to withdraw from the Danish National League after five games that year due to a lack of players, Ellis threw for 1,300 yards and 12 touchdowns (four interceptions) while rushing for another 487 yards.

In college, Ellis played for the University of Saint Francis Fighting Saints (NAIA) in Joliet, Illinois where over two seasons he completed 153 of 283 passes for 2,380 yards and 27 touchdowns.
