European Football Hall of Quarterback Stan Bedwell to host Air Raid “quick game” clinic

After 15 years, 36,700 career yards, 439 touchdowns, and six championships hall-of-fame international quarterback Stan Bedwell is back in the US coaching the offense responsible for his unprecedented success, the “Air Raid Offense”.

Bedwell spent the summer of 2021 calling plays for “The Linemen” in The Spring League under air raid inventor and former University of Kentucky head coach Hal Mumme. There, the duo won the league’s title while leading in every offensive category. Under Bedwell’s tutelage, former Virginia Tech quarterback Ryan Willis earned The Spring League MVP award after throwing for 1,798 yards and 16 touchdowns in seven games.

This fall, the well-traveled quarterback, took his Air-Raid knowledge up north helping turn around Minnesota State Community & Technical College. The Air Raid in part, took the junior college program from a winless season, all the way to their first conference championship. Bedwell’s offense helped the Spartans go from a dismal four total touchdowns their previous season to averaging 398 yards and over 30 points per game, leading the nation in passing offense.

Over the course of his career, Bedwell has used the Air Raid offense to help capture five championships in Europe. Back home in the States, scoring has also been easy, as the offense has averaged over 42 points per game over the course of five seasons as offensive coordinator in the college ranks.

“I essentially owe my entire playing career to the Air Raid offense. My production was very mediocre through my first three seasons in Europe, but I learned the Air Raid from Coach Mumme before the 2009 season with the Kragujevac Wild Boars, and from there my career took off. It is truly a quarterback friendly system that does not require you to have the strongest arm or even the best accuracy, you just need to learn where to go with the football at the right time.”

This Sunday, Bedwell will be breaking down the secrets to the Air Raid’s quick passing game, emphasizing the correct reads, technique, and overall offensive philosophy around getting the ball out quickly to playmakers in space.

“We’ll teach you all there is to know about our five quick game concepts, what coverages we like to run them against, and route adjustments/tags to hit the big play. We’ll also talk about the concepts we like running on the goal line, simple RPOs that combine our quick passing game with our runs, and most importantly you’ll learn how we teach our QBs to always get us into the right play!”

Bedwell hopes to impart knowledge that he picked up from mentor and Air Raid inventor Hal Mumme as the two have worked together for years. The Air Raid architect is now working to give back to the coaching community, including those in Europe. He is currently in the process of traveling to different high schools and small colleges teaching the system, as well as putting on a series of clinics to teach the air raid in the truest forms. His ultimate goal is to break into the professional level alongside Mumme in either the USFL or XFL, the two new alternative leagues to the NFL.

“There’s a lot of amazing things happening in my life right now! I’m really excited where my career is taking me, but I will never forget or get “too big” for those that got me there. It’s important for me to give back to everyone that was a part of my success on and off the field, thus I’ll forever be indebted to the European Football community, and I’d love to help out in every way possible. We have some big things coming down the pipeline in the future for both coaches and players overseas. This could include clinics, conventions, camps, tryouts, and more. Playing and coaching football in Europe for 15 seasons was a dream come true for me, but I’m honestly even more excited about what’s up next.”
