European League of Football: Rhein Fire sign D1 quarterback Matt Adam

The Rhein Fire of the European League of Football have finally signed their quarterback for the 2022 season. The Düsseldorf based club was the last team in the league to announce their signal-caller publishing the addition of former division one quarterback Matt Adam.

The 6’1″, 225 pound, 27-year-old Adam, a native of San Juan Capistrano, California, spent two seasons with the Indiana State University Sycamores, earning the starting quarterback spot in 2015. He threw for 2,098 yards and 19 touchdowns that season while rushing for another 494 and six touchdowns, leading the team to its third-best offensive season in school history at that point. He stepped away from the football field following that year to focus on academics, eventually transferring to Ferris State to finish his education. Ever since he has worked with quarterback expert Steve Calhoun (Armed and Dangerous), honing his craft.

Adam signed with the Berlin Rebels in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic cancelled the season. In 2021, the California native headed for Germany again playing for the Hamburg Huskies of the GFL2. As a member of the Huskies, Adam threw for 1,769 yards and scored 14 total touchdowns in nine games.

Many fans expected former NFL head coach Jim Tomsula to bring in a big-name quarterback for the 2022 season. Adam will look to prove himself as the Rhein Fire look to light up the ELF in their highly anticipated return to the gridiron.
