Finland: Maple League set to kick off 2022 season May 14

The Finnish Federation of American Football has released the schedule for 2022 Maple League season.

Seven teams will vy for the title now held by the Kuopio Steelers who are back-to-back champions.

All 42 regular season games, semifinals and the Maple Bowl will be broadcast live in Finland on the Ruutu channel and globally on AFI.tv. The kickoff times for regular season games are weekdays (Thursday, Friday) at 6:30pm (local Finnish time) and Saturday games at 4:30pm (UTC+3).

The other six teams joining the Steelers, include the Helsinki Roosters (2021 finalists), Porvoo Butchers, Seinäjoki Crocodiles, Helsinki Wolverines, Kotka Eagles (newly promoted) and United Newland Crusaders. The teams will play each other twice, home and away, during the regular season.

The season opens on Saturday May 13 when the Steelers head to Helsinki to face their 2021 Maple Bowl opponents, the Helsinki Roosters. The regular season ends Saturday, August 27 with the semifinals scheduled for September 2-4 and Maple Bowl XLIII September 10.
