Finnish champions, the Kuopio Steelers welcome back star LB Semmie Radji

The Kuopio Steelers, newly crowned Finnish champions, have re-signed one of the key players from the championship season, edge rusher/linebacker Semmie Radji.

During the five game regular season, the  6’4″, 242 pound Radji, from Almere, Holland, recorded 20 tackles, averaging four a game to go along with a pair of sacks. He added nine more in the playoffs and title game and together with teammates AJ Wentland and Kadel King formed the most feared linebacking corps in Finland’s Maple League.

For his superb performance in 2020, Radji was named to the Maple League All Star team and was also awarded defensive lineman of the year for the Steelers.

Prior to arriving in Finland, Radji spent four seasons playing Germany, the last three for the Hildesheim Invaders in the German Football League and initially for the Lubeck Cougars in GFL2. He amassed 163 tackles and 43 tackles for loss (169 yards) as well as 19 sacks during that time.

Needless to say, Radji is excited to return:

“I can’t wait to get back and put in work with that Landshark Defense!”
