Fujitsu Frontiers explode early, overwhelm OrientalBio Silver Star 49-7

The Fujitsu Frontiers (6-1) erupted for four first-quarter touchdowns and rolled past the OrientalBio Silver Star (0-6) 49-7 Wednesday at Uvance Todoroki Stadium by Fujitsu in Kawasaki, extending their X League Premier winning streak to three games.

Fujitsu buried the Silver Star under 29 first-quarter points, with its defense twice picking off passes and giving the offense opportunities to turn takeaways into touchdowns.

Takagi and Grant strike twice

Tsubasa Takagi and Samajie Grant struck twice in the opening quarter, connecting for two touchdowns as the Frontiers raced away from OrientalBio.

The Fujitsu defense helped keep the pressure on. Two interceptions set up touchdowns, and the Frontiers turned those extra possessions into points as the lead quickly ballooned.

The punishment continued in the second quarter. Daio Yamazaki found the end zone on the ground, stretching the advantage to 36-0 by halftime and leaving the Silver Star with a huge hole to climb out of.

Frontiers run away with it

After entering the game with the league’s top passing attack, Fujitsu did most of its damage on the ground.

Koki Miyake added a rushing touchdown in the second half as the Frontiers kept pounding away. By the end of the afternoon, Fujitsu had piled up 311 rushing yards.

That gave the Frontiers another dimension after their ground game had also topped 100 yards in the previous week’s 20-17 victory over the SEKISUI Challengers.

Reagan finds Hawthorne

OrientalBio finally broke through in the third quarter.

Conor Regan connected with Kasey Hawthorne for a 34-yard touchdown, putting the Silver Star on the board. But by then, Fujitsu had already built an overwhelming lead.

The touchdown was the only scoring OrientalBio could produce against a Frontiers team that had seized control almost immediately.

Fujitsu keeps rolling

The Frontiers finished off the 49-7 victory to improve to 6-1 and stay in the fight near the top of the X League Premier standings.

For OrientalBio, the search for its first victory continues after a sixth straight loss.

For Fujitsu, the afternoon was essentially decided in one devastating opening quarter. The defense created opportunities, Takagi and Grant cashed them in, and the Frontiers spent the rest of the game running away with it.
