Germany: Braunschweig New Yorker Lions extend five-time champion head coach Troy Tomlin

The Braunschweig New Yorker Lions of the German Football League have re-signed head coach Troy Tomlin.

Tomlin has been the head coach in Braunschweig since 2013 making the upcoming 2022 season his ninth consecutive on the Lions sideline. The American coach has had unprecedented success in Braunschweig leading the Lions to five German Bowl and five Eurobowl championships. During those eight seasons, Tomlin has amassed a 109-13-3 record in the German Football League, making six title game appearances.

The eight-year stretch of success in Braunschweig was Tomlin’s second go as head coach of the Lions as he led them four seasons from 2001-2004. During that time Tomlin and the Lions went 53-11 with four straight championship appearances. Last year Tomlin and the Lions finished the season with a 5-6 record losing to the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns in the quarterfinals.

Now that the Lions have secured Tomlin’s leadership and the New Yorker sponsorship for the upcoming season, they will look to sign key pieces of their team as they look to get back the German Bowl.
