Germany: Defending German champion Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns re-sign DB Monteze Latimore

Five-time German Football League and defending German Bowl champions, the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, have re-signed defensive back Monteze Latimore for the 2023 season after a one year absence.

After sitting out the 2022 season, Latimore, who was a key member of the Unicorns 2021 team that reached the German Bowl, is returning. In 2021, he was the third leading tackler for Schwäbisch Hall with 36 including three tackles for loss while snagging eight interceptions.  In the German Bowl he had seven tackles and an interception against the Dresden Monarchs in a losing cause.

The 6′, 190 pound, 26-year-old from St. Louis, Missouri and graduate of Central Missouri University (NCAA Div. II) had originally arrived in Schwäbisch Hall in the summer of 2019 but the Unicorns had not realized that he because he had played in a preseason game with the Ottawa Redblacks in the Canadian Football League, he was ineligible to play in the German Football League that same year. Then, he was re-signed for the 2020 season which never materialized due to the pandemic. So he eventually made it in 2021.

However, in 2019, when Latimore was on his way back home from Germany, Finland’s Helsinki Roosters signed him for the last part of what would be their 22nd championship season. Latimore arrived with five games to go and in that time, he recorded 14 tackles, two tackles for loss, two interceptions and a sack.

In his four years at Central Missouri he had 176 tackles and 13 interceptions. He also holds the school record for pass breakups in one season with 16 in 2017.
