Germany: Marburg Mercenaries add South Dakota LB Justus ‘Jet’ Moreland

The Marburg Mercenaries of the German Football League have signed linebacker Justus ‘Jet’ Moreland from the University of South Dakota Coyotes (NCAA, Div. I FCS) for the 2019 season.

The 6’3″, 215 lb native of Wichita, Kansas, was a standout at both outside and middle linebacker for the Coyotes. He started all 11 games in his senior year and finished fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference with 106 tackles including 60 solo. He earned All MVFC honors at linebacker and was ranked 21st nationally in total tackles.  He played in all 46 games for the Coyotes from 2013-16 and compiled 185 tackles. To top it off, he was named the MVFC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award winner and was an MVFC Conference Honor Roll member.

He was invited to the New Orleans Saints rookie minicamp in 2017.

Moreland also competed on the Coyotes track and field team as a javelin thrower with a career best of 189’4″.

The Mercenaries finished fifth in the GFL South Conference in 2018.
