Germany: Potsdam Royals’ rookie wide receivers Jared Wolfe and Brandon Polk are difference makers

The German Football League title game – German Bowl XLIII – set for this Saturday, October 8 in Frankfurt will pit two unbeaten teams as the GFL North winners, the Potsdam Royals take on the GFL South champions, the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns.

The Royals are playing for the championship for the first time in their history, thanks in large part to an outstanding offense led in part by the pass catching duo of Jared Wolfe and Brandon Polk.

Both of these players were free agent signings during the offseason and have massively contributed to this team’s success.

For Wolfe, this is his first season playing professional ball. This is coming off of five seasons at the collegiate level, where the first two seasons were spent at Western New England University (NCAA DIII) and the latter three years with the Villanova University Wildcats (NCAA DI).

The Seaford, NY native had an excellent rookie year recording 96 receptions for 1,459 yards (15.2 yards/catch, 121.6 yards/game) and 15 touchdowns. He finished the regular season as the second-leading receiver in the GFL.

Polk’s path to the Royals is similar. He is also playing his first ever professional season after spending five seasons in college, four for Penn State (NCAA DI) and a final year with James Madison University (NCAA DI).

The Ashburn, Virginia native has likewise played lights out in his rookie season, amassing 72 receptions for 1,344 yards (18.7 yards/catch, 112 yards/game) and 15 touchdowns. He was the third leading pass catcher in the league in terms of yards per game.

This Saturday, the duo will be performing on their biggest stage yet against the undefeated Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns. Will the rookie WR pair come up big again to wind up with a storybook ending for the season?
