Germany: Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns sign dynamic RB Kelley Joiner Jr. for 2026 season
The Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns have bolstered their backfield for the 2026 German Football League season with the signing of American running back Kelley Joiner Jr., adding a proven playmaker from the University of South Florida (NCAA Div. 1, FBS).
A decorated college career
The 5-foot-9, 195-pound Clermont, Florida native finished his six-year career with the USF Bulls as one of the program’s most productive runners, ranking sixth on the school’s all-time rushing list with 2,178 yards. His standout 2024 senior season saw him rush for 799 yards and 12 touchdowns while adding two more scores as a receiver, earning Honorable Mention All-AAC honors from conference coaches and Fourth Team All-AAC recognition from Phil Steele.
Bringing explosiveness overseas
Unicorns representative Felix Brenner highlighted Joiner’s “explosiveness and speed” as traits that will significantly enhance the team’s ground attack. Joiner brings not only production but durability, having set the USF record for games played (58) during his collegiate tenure. His high school background—over 4,500 rushing yards and 55 touchdowns—further underscores his long track record of end-zone success.
Looking ahead
The 26-year-old back expressed enthusiasm about joining the Unicorns’ culture of success and continuing his football journey overseas. His versatility as a runner, receiver, and kick returner provides Schwäbisch Hall with a multifaceted weapon as they prepare for another competitive GFL campaign in 2026.
