Germany: Straubing Spiders sign former Tennessee Tech DB DeMario Donnell

The Straubing Spiders, newest members of the German Football League, have signed former Tennessee Tech defensive back DeMario Donnell for the 2022 season.

The 5’9″, 180 pound, 27-year-old native of Nashville, Tennessee was a four-year starter playing for the Golden Eagles (NCAA Div. I, FCS) amassing 115 tackles, 25 PBUs, 1 interception and 4 forced fumbles. He went on to spend four seasons playing Arena football with the Amarillo Venom (Champions Indoor Football League, CIF – 2 seasons), Columbus Lions (National Arena League, NAL – 1 season) and Wichita Force (CIF – 1 season).

In his two seasons with Amarillo, he recorded 10 interceptions, 15 PBU’s, 51 tackles, 3 forced fumbles, and scored 1 touchdown. His season with Columbus produced 3 picks, 6 PBUs, 23 tackles and 1 TD. While with the Force he had 2 interceptions, 4 PBUs, 56 tackles, 3 TFLs, and a touchdown.
