Helvetic Mercenaries sign Swiss Champion LB Andre Blackett Jr.

The Helvetic Mercenaries have made a massive defensive addition, signing two-time Swiss champion and tackling machine Andre Blackett Jr. for their 2026 campaign.

Dominating the Swiss league
Before bringing his talents to the Mercenaries, Blackett established himself as one of the most dominant defensive players in Switzerland with the Calanda Broncos, helping the team capture back-to-back Swiss titles. In his first season (2024), he delivered a spectacular performance with 113 tackles (76 solo, 37 assists), 17 tackles for loss, 4 pass breakups, 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 1 interception, and even a touchdown across 13 games. He followed this with an even more impressive 2025 season, recording over 120 tackles, 10+ tackles for loss, 3 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 2 interceptions, and 2 pass breakups in another 13-game campaign.

From collegiate standout to Swiss success
The 6-foot, 230-pound linebacker from Easton, Pennsylvania previously showcased his skills at the NCAA FCS level with the Rhode Island Rams. As a redshirt senior in 2021, he started all 11 games, finishing second on the team with 87 tackles while adding 2 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, and 2 pass breakups. His collegiate performance earned him All-Star Game MVP honors ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft.

A complete defensive leader
The Mercenaries are getting more than just stats – they’re acquiring a proven winner and leader. Team management stated, “We are proud to have won a player with André’s experience and quality for our team. His previous successes speak for themselves.” With his championship pedigree, relentless production, and versatile skill set, Blackett immediately transforms the Helvetic Mercenaries defense into one of the most formidable units in the league heading into 2026.
