IFAF Elections: Meet the Candidates – Carl Michael Eschlböck (Austria)

Nominated by the American Football Federation of Austria, AFBÖ, Carl Michael Eschlböck is seeking election to become IFAF’s new Director of Finance. Eschlböck is one of six candidates in various positions standing for a three-year term with the elections being held December 11.

After his playing days in Austria ended in 1995, Eschlböck has quickly become a vital part of his home country’s football scene. From commentating on NFL games to eventually becoming the president of the AFBÖ in 2003 Eschlböck has been a key part of the growth of American football in Austria.

The AFBÖ’s president has been working on the finance side of sports for many years, securing funding as vice president of Sport Austria, a non-profit institution that represents the interests of sports both in Austria and in international organizations. This experience along with Eschlböck’s involvement with the Supervisory Board of Austrian Sports Resorts gives him firsthand familiarity with funding international sporting events.
