Italian Football League unveils 2026 season schedule and format

The Italian Football League (IFL) has released its highly anticipated schedule for the 2026 season, featuring a streamlined 10-team, single-division format culminating in Italian Bowl XLV in Ferrara.

A condensed and competitive season
The 2026 campaign will kick off during the weekend of February 28th and March 1st, featuring 13 regular-season games for each of the 10 participating teams. The league has scheduled only one break, coinciding with the Easter weekend, ensuring a fast-paced and intense run toward the playoffs. The season will conclude with Italian Bowl XLV on Saturday, July 4th, hosted at the Paolo Mazza Stadium in Ferrara.

Playoff picture and defending champions
Following the regular season, the top two teams will earn direct bids to the semifinals scheduled for June 20–21. Teams finishing between third and sixth place will compete in the Wild Card round on June 13–14 to secure the remaining semifinal spots. Defending champions, the Firenze Guelfi, will return to seek another title in what promises to be a balanced and highly competitive field. The league welcomes back The Ferrara Aquille, Ancona Dolphins, Legnano Frogs, Torino GiaguariLazio Marines, Parma Panthers, Milano Rhinos, Varese Skorpions, and Bologna Warriors.

Expanded visibility and accessibility
All IFL games will be streamed pay-per-view on the federation’s YouTube channel, FIDAF TV. Adding to the league’s growing international profile, one game each week will be designated the “Game of the Week” and broadcast in the United States through a continued partnership with BCSN, marking the fourth consecutive year of stateside coverage. This expanded visibility highlights the league’s commitment to broadening the reach of Italian American football.

With a clear structure, competitive format, and enhanced media presence, the IFL is poised for an exciting and accessible 2026 season that promises to engage both domestic and international fans.
