The Wroclaw Panthers (5-2) return home on Sunday looking to rebound from their second loss of the season as they host the Firenze Red Lions (0-6) in American Football League Europe action. Both teams are coming off difficult defeats, but while the Panthers remain firmly in the playoff race, the Red Lions are still searching for their first victory of the year.
Panthers seek quick response
The Panthers saw their four-game winning streak end with a 48-7 loss to Rhein Fire, a game in which they struggled to find offensive rhythm after running back Dawid Brzozowski exited with an injury. Quarterback Jameson Wang also threw two interceptions after entering the contest without one all season.
Despite that setback, Wroclaw remains one of the league’s top teams. Wang has completed 119 of 175 passes for 1,566 yards with 18 touchdown passes and just two interceptions through seven games, giving the Panthers one of the most productive passing attacks in the league.
The running game has also been a strength thanks to Brzozowski, who ranks among the league leaders with 472 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 74 carries. Still, it is unknown as to whether Brzozowski has recovered in time to play today.

Playmakers on both sides
One of Wang’s favorite targets has been Michael Harley Jr., who has been one of the league’s most explosive receivers. He has caught 30 passes for 619 yards and nine touchdowns, making him a constant big-play threat.
The Red Lions have offensive weapons of their own. Quarterback Matthew McKay has thrown for 839 yards and nine touchdowns while being intercepted only once in five games. Running back Brandon Belgrave has rushed for 323 yards and a touchdown, and Lorenzo Cinelli leads the receiving corps with 29 catches for 253 yards.
Firenze searching for consistency
The Red Lions are coming off a 49-3 loss to Berlin Thunder, a game in which they struggled to finish drives despite showing flashes offensively. Turnovers and penalties proved costly, and the defense spent much of the afternoon trying to slow a balanced Berlin attack.
For Firenze, putting together a complete four-quarter performance will be essential against another playoff contender.
Opportunity awaits
The Panthers know they cannot afford to dwell on last week’s loss. A victory would keep them near the top of the American Football League Europe standings and restore momentum heading into the closing stretch of the regular season.
For the Red Lions, the challenge is clear. They’ll need to slow one of the league’s most balanced offenses while finding enough consistency on their own side of the ball to stay within striking distance.
With Wroclaw eager to respond and Firenze determined to earn its first win, Sunday’s matchup should provide an important measuring stick for both teams.
