The 4-5 Ljubljana Silverhawks from Slovenia head to Traun, Austria in their final game of the Austrian Football League this year to face the 1-8 Traun Steelsharks.

Both teams are coming off lopsided losses. Two weeks ago, the Silverhawks were downed by the Swarco Raiders 55-17 while Traun suffered a 61-28 defeat at the hands of the Danube Dragons.

In the first meeting between the two teams this year, Ljubljana came away with a 49-27 win.

The game will feature two of the top quarterbacks in Austria this year. Silverhawks QB Zach Cavanaugh has thrown for 2,674 yards and 27 TDs in nine games to lead the country. Traun’s John Uribe is fifth overall with 2,130 yards and 18 TDs. Matic Tomse of the Silverhawks leads the league in receiving with 967 yards and 13 TDs while Steelsharks wideout Mario Winter is third. He has caught 61 passes for 786 yards.

In other words, these two teams can put on an aerial display.

While the Steelsharks season ends with this game, Ljubljana will play in the wild card playoffs. Although they cannot improve their place in the standings, the Silverhawks will need momentum going into the postseason.
