The Aix Argonautes (1-1) face the Nice Dauphins (0-2) as the French D1 Elite winds up its third weekend of play.

The Dauphins enter the game after dropping a surprising 19-6 decision to the newly-promoted Cannes Iron Mask a month ago and then following that up with a 21-19 loss to the Grizzlys Catalans. The Argonautes defeated the Toulouse Ours 21-13 to open the season but then were pounded 35-8 by the Iron Mask.

In 2023, these two teams split the series between them with Nice winning the first game 24-7 and the Argonautes taking the second game 34-32.

Nice second year head coach Yannick Fattorini will definitely be looking to get his team into the win column after those disappointing losses. French quarterback Sullivan Silverio will need to generate some offense as the team has only scored 25 points in two games.

The Dauphins defense led by defensive lineman Jordan Harris (Brockport University NCAA DIII) as well as talented French linebacker Chemsedine Jaouni will also need to step up to help snap the losing streak.

Argonautes head coach Emmanuel Maguet’s squad is led by quarterback Derek Green (Long Island University). Green is the son of NFL quarterback Trent Green and he too will need to inject some energy into the offense which only scored eight points in the loss to the Iron Mask. Running back Antoni Giglio gives the Argonautes a solid run game. Defensively, Maguet looks to GFL standout linebacker Jaymn Haddad as well as defensive back Chady Abdel Aal and linebacker Pierre Moreno.
