The Oslo Vikings (2-1) will take the 45-minute drive north to Råholt, Norway to face the Eidsvoll 1814s (2-1) in a key matchup in the Norwegian League of American Football.
This game was originally scheduled for October 3, but it was postponed at the last minute due to poor field conditions at the time.
The Vikings are still smarting from a surprising 15-14 loss to the Kristiansand Gladiators last week while Eidsvoll rolled to a comfortable 42-20 victory over the Vålerenga Trolls.
The two teams are tied for first along with Kristiansand in the Norwegian standings. Eidsvoll has two wins, 35-20 over Kristiansand and 42-20 over the Trolls, and one loss, 40-30 to Kristiansand. Meanwhile, Oslo has defeated the Trolls twice, 35-3 and 41-6 while losing to the Gladiators.
This will be a battle between Eidsvoll’s league leading offense (35.6 points/game) against the Vikings defense which is the country’s stingiest giving up just eight points per game.
The 1814s offense is led by quarterback Dustin Hawke Willingham with his key receivers being Yasar Hasan, Tobias Sweetlove and Arne August Sogaard all of whom have caught scoring passes this year. Hawke Willingham has tossed 12 touchdown passes so far this year and rushed for another two.
Vikings head coach Derek Mann will continue to rely on 21-year-old Norwegian Wilhelm Domaas as his quarterback. His key targets will be slotback Andre Wang and wide receiver Fredrik Fjeldseth while running backs Jesper Jørgensen and Swede Johannes Nilsson, anchor the backfield. Nilsson played for the Uppsala 86ers in 2019 and 2020 in the Swedish Superserien.
Veteran Stian Klyve anchors the offensive line. He too played in Sweden in 2021, starting at left guard for Swedish finalists, the Stockholm Mean Machines. Another key lineman is right tackle Elias Kjelling.
On defense, defensive end Thomas Sundby plays an important role along with defensive back Per Gaarden.
In the other game from Norway this weekend, the Kristiansand Gladiators (2-1) will host the Vålerenga Trolls (0-3).
