The defending champion Warsaw Eagles open the Polish Football League playoffs Saturday when they host the Krakow Kings in a quarterfinal matchup, with the league’s only unbeaten team looking to take the next step toward a third straight PFL championship.

Warsaw finished the regular season 8-0 to earn the top seed, while the Kings claimed the final playoff berth after closing the campaign with a must-win victory over Armia Poznań.

Eagles chasing history

The Eagles have been the most complete team in the PFL all season and now begin their pursuit of a third consecutive league title.

They scored 228 points during the regular season, but their defense has been even more impressive, allowing just 55 points in eight games—the fewest in the league.

Quarterback Vidal Woodruff has expertly directed one of the league’s most balanced offenses, distributing the ball to an outstanding group of receivers. Kornel Witkowski, Krzysztof Nosow, Bruno Waszkiewicz and Aleksander Dąda have all emerged as dangerous playmakers, giving opposing defenses plenty to worry about.

Kings ready for the challenge

The Kings enter the postseason as underdogs but have enough offensive talent to threaten anyone.

Quarterback Braden Howell finished the regular season with 18 touchdown passes, while Szymon Lorenc has been a key weapon in an offense capable of putting points on the board in a hurry.

For Krakow, the priority will be slowing an Eagles team that has dominated on both sides of the ball throughout the season. If the visitors can keep the game close into the second half, the pressure could begin to shift toward the defending champions.

The matchup between Woodruff and Howell will be one of the game’s biggest storylines, but Warsaw’s dominant defense could ultimately be the deciding factor. If the Eagles continue the disciplined football that carried them through an undefeated regular season, they will be one step closer to an unprecedented third straight Polish Football League title.
