In a matchup of undefeated teams in Spain’s top league, the defending champion Badalona Dracs will make the short trip to visit the recently promoted Barbera Rookies. Both the Dracs and Rookies have started the season off in dominating fashion, blowing out their opponents through the first two weeks.

Now the defending champs and the league’s new contender put their undefeated records on the line in this early Sunday matchup.

On the visiting side, the Badalona Dracs continue to be the class of the Spanish league led this year by experienced quarterback Glen Cuiellette. The former Tulane (NCAA D1) passer will look to target dangerous imports Hunter Belzo and Raphael Hidalgo along with Spanish talents Raul Cernuda, David Martinez, and Borja Vilanova.

The Dracs high flying passing attack will face its toughest challenge yet lining up across from an athletic Rookies secondary. Barbera cornerback Jordi Brugnani is a player to watch today. The veteran already had one pick-six this season and would love to make it too against his old team. Complimenting the Spanish talent is the dangerous duo of brothers in Nolan and Miles Corpening. The two speedy Americans have made big plays in all three phases of the game for the Rookies this season.

The Dracs defense is an experienced group that is has added linebacker Patrick Kenney this season. Kenney has made his presence felt with a pick-six and several big hits so far this season. The rest of the Dracs defense is a formidable group with lots of championship experience.

The Rookies offense is led by Mexican quarterback Luis Enrique García Rosado. Rosado will aim to target French receiver Bryan Larese, Polish tight end Adrian Gierczak and Spanish pass catchers Víctor Llargués and Víctor Vega. Running back Charlemagne Take Hamza will look to find the gaps in a veteran Dracs defense.

Fans can expect fireworks in this game as both teams have explosive athletes at multiple positions. The Rookies would love nothing more than to hand the nearby Dracs a loss and climb in the standings. Across the field, Badalona’s battle test team looks to show the upstart Barbera squad why the Dracs have been number one all these years.
