The Mallorca Voltors (3-3) will host the Badalona Dracs (6-0) on Sunday, March 24 as Spain’s Liga Nacional de Fútbol Americano winds down with two games left in the season.

This is the second meeting between the two teams this season. Badalona had no trouble in the first outing, beating the Voltors 54-9.

Mallorca defeated the Pagesos (12-0) and the L’Hospitalet Pioners (13-7) before succumbing to the Dracs. They then were beaten by the Zaragoza Hurricanes 35-19 but rebounded to beat the Pagesos 26-25. Last week, Mallorca dropped a 41-21 decision to the Pioners, eliminating them from playoff contention.

The Dracs have been impressive again this season beating the Voltors 54- 9 in their first game and taking that momentum into a 50-7 win over the Pagesos before beating the Zaragoza Hurricanes 49-14. The Pioners surprised Badalona a month ago, keeping the game close, but finally succumbed 34-28. The Dracs then pummeled the Hurricanes again, this time by a score of 44-0. Last week, the Dracs seemed to ease up and only defeated the cellar dwelling Pagesos 33-19.

For Mallorca, quarterback Zahir Wilder (Montclair State) is the key. He has thrown 11 touchdown passes so far this season and scored another on the ground. His main targets are Santiago González, Calum Davidson and Jonathan Chele.

Dracs veteran quarterback Sergi Gonzalo leads a potent offense averaging 44 points a game and headlined by wide receiver Alpha Jalloh who has scored 14 touchdowns so far this season. . With running back Ra’Von Bonner in the Badalona backfield, the Voltors are in for another long afternoon.
