LIVESTREAM Spain: Gijon Mariners @ Las Rozas Black Demons, March 25, 16:00 CET (4 pm, 11 am EDT)

The Las Rozas Black Demons will be aiming to close out the regular season with their 7-0 unbeaten streak intact when they face the 2-4 Gijon Mariners Saturday, March 25 as the Spanish National League of American Football enters its second last regular season weekend.

The Black Demons, runners up in 2022, are coming off a comfortable 35-23 win over the Alcobendas Cavaliers. Las Rozas had opened the season by beating the Coslada Camioneros 14-7 and followed that up with a historic victory as they defeated the defending champions, Osos Rivas, 3-2, in the lowest scoring game in the top division ever. They then walloped Alcobendas 48-0 and Gijon 56-14 before edging Osos 7-0 in another low scoring affair. Finally, Las Rozas flexed their muscles against Coslada in their second meeting, blanking them 44-0.

Canadian quarterback Theo Landers has been playing excellent football for Las Rozas and with running backs Daniel Romero and veteran Marcos de la Mata providing a potent ground game, the Black Demons are a formidable opponent as the post season looms.

Gijon earned their second win of the season in their last outing two weeks ago beating Coslada 48-21. They had opened the year with three straight losses. They dropped a 21-14 decision to the Camioneros in the second outing of the season after having been beaten 16-3 by Osos Rivas. They then lost 56-14 to the Black Demons before beating the Alcobendas Cavaliers 40-20. However, two weeks ago they were trounced 39-0 by Osos Rivas but they rebounded with the win over Coslada.

Mariners’ Mexican quarterback Sergio Cebado, is a dual threat passer and running back Irvin Riley (Jacksonville University) is dangerous as they proved in last week’swin.

Although Gijon are coming off an impressive win over the Camioneros, they will still be in tough against a Las Rozas squad that whipped them 56-14 in the last outing.
