NCAA College Football Conference Scores International YouTube Deal

Pacific Athletic Conference (PAC 12) football going global

With interest in Major League Soccer on the rise in the U.S., American football is looking to gain recognition abroad. College ball will soon be spiraling into the international airwaves as the Pac-12 Conference launches its own YouTube channel.

In lay terms, that means 12 universities in the western U.S. will be showcasing their teams’ games via the site.

“Securing international distribution has been a top priority for us, especially knowing that we have so many alumni and a growing fan base outside of the United States,” says Pac-12 Networks President Lydia Murphy-Stephans.

This move makes Pac-12 Networks the first 24/7 live streaming channel on YouTube. So far, 35 football games are in the works and after the season ends, basketball will take center stage.

To reach out to an international crowd that’s unfamiliar with American football and perhaps even basketball, Pac-12 Networks plans to extend its coverage to Olympic sports that are popular abroad.

Streaming will include live games, studio shows and video on demand starting August 26. After launching, the channel hopes to expand its base of countries. Subscriptions will cost US$100 per year or $15 per month.

Once the service launches, fans in supporting countries will find details on how to sign up and watch at this website.
