New “old” passing leader as German Football League heads into final 3 games

With only three games remaining in the German Football League regular season, the there is a new, “old” leader atop the passing yardage stats while the league receiving rushing and tackling leaders have not changed.  Interestingly, the Kiel Baltic Huricanes have three players among the top five in all four categories, as do the Schwäbisch Hall Hurricanes and Braunschweig New Yorker Lions, the top three teams in the league. However, the Munich Cowboys with a 3-10 record, also have three. No other team has more than one.

Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns quarterback Marco Ehrenfried has retaken the passing yardage lead following his 298 yard and 4 TD passing performance against the Ingolstadt Dukes. He now has 2,745 yards and 40 TDs. Rick Webster of the Dukes  did not play in that game and dropped down into 2nd with 2,946 yards passing and 31 TD passes. Casey Therriault of the New Yorker Lions with his 2,868 passing yards is 3rd. Dresden Monarchs QB Garrett Safron has moved into 4th in passing yardage with 2,685 yards and  and 34 TDs. Australian Jared Stegman of the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes  who did not play last weekend, remains 5th with 2,466 and a league-leading 41 TDs.

Kiel WR Xavier Mitchell is having a phenomenal year and still leads the league despite playing only QB in last weekend’s win over the Berlin Rebels. He has 1,124 yards and 14 TD receptions. Not surprisingly, New Yorker Lions WR Niklas Römer is still 2nd with 1,044 yards and 13 TDs while Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns receiver Nate Robitaille has moved up into 3rd with 1,025 yards receiving and a league-leading 18 TD catches .His teammate Tyler Rutenbeck is right behind him with 944 yards while Alexander Tounkara of the Berlin Rebels is now 5th with 879 yards and 10 TDs.

Following his amazing 352 yard rushing day against the Berlin Rebels, Kiel Baltic Hurricanes RB Chris McClendon has surged further ahead in rushing and he still the leads after 11 games. He has rushed for 1,791  yards and 16 TDs. New Yorker Lions RB David McCants stays in 2nd with 1,174 yards and 13 TDs RB Kevin Parks of the Cologne Crocodiles is also having an outstanding season and with 108 yards last week against the Dresden Monarchs he remains 3rd with 1,147 yards. Frankfurt’s Silas Nacita now has 1,052 yards and 11 TDs. Fabien Gaertner of the 3-10 Munich Cowboys  occupies  5th with 760 yards and 13 TDs.

Michael Taylor of the 7-4 Marburg Mercenaries has maintained his lead after recording 10 tackles in last week’s loss to the Allgäu Comets and has 143.  Jeremiah Maluia of the Munich Cowboys is still 2nd with 114 while teammate Ryan Newell despite missing a couple of games is 3rd with 111 tackles. He led the GFL in tackles in 2013 and 2014 with the Cowboys.  Comets LB Niall Padden holds onto 4th with 105 tackles and Burton De Koning of the Berlin Adler maintains his 5th spot with 100 tackles.
