The International Games

The NFL International Games haven’t only grown in success, but they’ve also grown in number. It was a record seven games this season, taking place in six different venues and five countries.

It’s been a fantastic way for the sport to develop and reach fans across the world. Estimates state that the NFL now has 410 million global fans. While the action was enjoyed by all, let’s see how it worked out for the teams.

Party in Brazil

It all began in São Paulo in the first week of the season. It was an entertaining matchup with a close competition between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs. It finished 27-21, with the Chargers beating the Chiefs.

Justin Herbert’s fine play was instrumental in clinching the victory over Patrick Mahomes. It was a slow and steady performance, with the Chargers scoring in every quarter. Fans are sure to already be looking forward to the action next year, with tickets for the 2026 game in Rio up for grabs.

Irish Eyes Are Smiling

The NFL made history this year with its first-ever game in Dublin. The Irish crowds came out in force, but it was also a great travel opportunity for home fans, who took a trip to see the game. The sold-out game at Croke Park had an attendance of 74,512.

The Week 4 result saw the Steelers get the better of the Vikings, with a tight game that ended 24-21. Despite scoring 15 points in the final quarter, it wasn’t enough to see the Vikings to victory.

Live in London

The Minnesota Vikings didn’t go home in defeat, though. They kicked off the London games against the Cleveland Browns at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The back-to-back away games would have been quite a tough challenge for the team, but they proved themselves by securing a win.

The final scoreline was 21-17 to the Vikings. The crowd got to enjoy five touchdowns, and even with a fumble and a missed field goal, the Vikings still secured control of the game with their final play.

NFL Meets Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

The second game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was played by the Denver Broncos and the New York Jets. It was Week 6 of the season, which wasn’t a happy one for the Jets. They went 0-6 in a narrow defeat to the Broncos.

For Patrick Surain II, it was a strong performance, scoring 10 points in the first quarter. Nevertheless, the nine sacks and 13-11 scoreline show that it was a fairly ugly victory.

Wild in Wembley

The Jacksonville Jaguars are now a regular feature at Wembley, which is their home from home. However, the team faced a disappointing defeat against the LA Rams in Week 7. If it wasn’t for a touchdown in the final quarter, the side who are so popular in London would have finished without scoring.

It was the Rams who showed all the quality, beating the Jaguars 35-7. It was a spectacle for the crowd, with two touchdowns in the first quarter and another two in the fourth.

Big Crowds in Berlin

On Sunday, November 9, the Falcons faced the Colts in Berlin in a thrilling game that went to overtime. The Colts continued their impressive performance this season by eventually clinching a victory of 31-25.

Needless to say, the game was hugely entertaining and drew in a lot of fans. It averaged 6 million TV and digital viewers, which makes it a top-five NFL Network International Game on record.

Final Game in Madrid

The Washington Commanders had yet to take the field in the Bernabeu Stadium, Madrid, at the time of writing. They’ll face the Miami Dolphins. Both teams are 3-7, but the Dolphins are riding high after ending their seven-game losing streak. Whereas the Commanders suffered a significant loss to the Lions last week.
