LIVE STREAM: Spain’s LNFA Serie A playoffs still up for grabs

With two games remaining the the Spanish American Football League, the only thing certain is that the Badalona Dracs and Reus Imperials will be the top seeds in the playoffs.

The other four teams are still in a heated battle for the final two playoff berths. Badalona and Reus will no doubt finish one and two. But the other two playoff berths are up for grabs.

The Valencia Firebats are currently third and a win over the Murcia Cobras this weekend will advance them. However, if the Cobras win by more than 10 they will have a chance. Meanwhile if the Valencia Giants finish in a tie with the Firebats they will have a three better points differential in the two games against their cross town rivals and that would qualify them.

In other words, the playoff picture is anything but clear.

Valencia Firebats (3-5) – Murcia Cobras (3-5)

This is a key matchup for the playoffs. The Firebats defeated Murcia in their first meeting of the season 20-10. Since then neither team has impressed but they are both coming off big wins. The Firebats defeated the Giants two weeks ago 36-14 while Murcia downed the Barbera Rookies 34-7.

This could be a duel of running backs as the Firebats Héctor Pertegaz and Cobras Kevin Gramage have been important to their teams.

Badalona Dracs (7-1) – Valencia Giants (3-5)

The Dracs enter this game still smarting after suffering a surprising, and decisive 48-32 upset at the hands of the Reus Imperials two weeks ago. That loss ended a 17 game unbeaten streak and set the Spanish league up for an exciting finish to a season which many had expected would see the Dracs crowned champs without much opposition.

The Dracs won the first game against the Giants earlier this year with relative ease, cruising to a 32-6 victory. And since then Valencia has struggled at times, losing their last two games, to the Firebats and Imperials. However, with a playoff berth at stake the Giants need a win. On the other hand, Badalona desperately needs this game as well. They have discovered that no game is a given any more.

Look for the Dracs to come out firing on all cylinders.
