Prerov Mammoths defeat Ostrava Steelers to stay unbeaten in Czech Snapbacks League
In a gritty second-round matchup of the Czech Snapbacks League, the Prerov Mammoths (2-0) defeated the Ostrava Steelers (0-2) 21-7 this past weekend.
The Mammoths displayed a powerful offensive performance, capitalizing on key plays while the Steelers struggled to find their footing throughout the game. This victory sets the tone for the Mammoths as they look to build momentum in the league.
Mammoths take control
The scoring began in the second quarter when Daniel Kamiński powered through for a 6-yard touchdown run, giving the Mammoths a 7-0 lead after Pavel Novák’s successful kick. Just minutes later, quarterback Nicolas Visser connected with Jan Vysloužil for a 16-yard touchdown pass, extending the lead to 14-0.
In the third quarter, the Mammoths continued to dominate. Visser found Petr Tomaník for a 1-yard touchdown pass, pushing the score to 21-0. The Steelers faced an uphill battle but managed to find the end zone in the fourth quarter. Vojtěch Nevrla caught a 12-yard pass from Dexter Russell Jr., and Josef Škerko added the extra point, bringing the score to 21-7.
Despite the late touchdown, the Steelers couldn’t overcome the Mammoths’ strong performance, marking a solid start to the season for Prerov.
Prerov tied for first
With the win, Prerov remains unbeaten and tied with the Vysocina Gladiators for top spot in the standings. Meanwhile, the loss dropped the Steelers to the basement.
