Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns sign All American RB John Santiago

The Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns have added explosion to the offense with the signing of All American running back John Santiago from the University of North Dakota.

Santiago, a 5’9″, 190 pound, 24-year-old from Andover, Minnesota, was a three-time All American running back for the University of North Dakota (NCAA  Div. I, FCS). In his four years (2015-2018) Santiago rushed for 3,722 yards and 29 touchdowns while accumulating 6,500 all-purpose yards. In his freshman season (2015), he set UND’s Division I record for rushing (1,459) and all-purpose yards (2,159).

Santiago attended Winnipeg Blue Bombers training camp in 2019 and had signed with the Seattle Dragons in the XFL in 2020 before the season was canceled.

Santiago is looking forward to joining his new team:

“I want to be part of a successful program and I want to contribute to winning the championship in Schwäbisch Hall. My goal is to make an impact every time I’m on the field and to lead by example.”

Unicorns head coach Jordan Neuman:

“John’s skills as a high-class running back, receiver and kick returner make him exactly the player we were looking for. His videos and his statistics speak for themselves. Most importantly, he fits in well with the team and the Unicorns culture. I’m really looking forward to seeing him in the Unicorns jersey.”
