Serbia: Kragujevac Wild Boars open 2019 season with convincing win

The defending Serbian champion Kragujevac Wild Boars do not seem to have lost a step as they comfortably defeated the Jagodina Black Hornets 49-22 in the opening game of the Serbian American Football League season Saturday.

Wild Boars running back Nick La Sane had a field day rushing for four touchdowns while quarterback Jake Sisson threw two touchdown passes. Pedra Medici caught one and Stefan Djuric caught the other. Mihailo Novaković also scored on an eight yard run. Peter Goić kicked all seven extra points.

For Jagodina, quarterback Christopher Pope threw three touchdown passes with wide receiver Bogdan Pavlovic catching two and Alexandru Janićievic the other. Pavlovic and Vanja Radivojevic both added two point conversions.

The Wild Boars scored all seven touchdowns in the first half first taking a 21-8 lead in the opening quarter and increasing it to 49-8 by the half. With the 35 point difference at halftime, the mercy rule was put in place which meant a running clock in the second half.

La Sane ran amok in the first two quarters as the Black Hornets had now answer for him. He scored on the Wild Boars first two possessions from eight yards out and then 17.

Pope marched Jagodina down to the Wild Boars 20 yard line late in the first quarter and then connected with Janićievic to close the gap.

But Sisson found Medici for a 35 yard touchdown just as the quarter ended to give Kragujevac a 21-8 cushion.

The Wild Boars offense was unstoppable after that with Sisson hitting Djuric for a one yard score and then La Sane pounding it in from the three yard line to make it 35-8.

Pope was not done though, finding a streaking Povlovic in stride for a 60 yard touchdown.

The powerful ground game of the Wild Boars kicked back into gear with first Novaković and La Sane adding rushing touchdowns to make the score 49-14.

With time running in the second half, Pavlovic scored a late touchdown on a 10 pass from Pope with Radivojevic scoring a two-point conversion for the final score.

The Wild Boars head to Belgrade next weekend to face the Belgrade Blue Dragons while Jagodina plays host to the Indija Indians.
