Serbia: Kragujevac Wild boars sign top NCAA QB Jake Sisson

Serbian champions, the Kragujevac Wild Boars, have signed Jake Sisson from Edinboro University in Pennsylvania (NCAA Div. II) as their quarterback for the 2019 season.

The 22 year old Sisson, 6’0″, 22o lbs, is a native of Jamestown, New York and as a three year starter for the Fighting Scots amassed 8,313 yards passing and 85 passing touchdowns.  He holds five of the top ten single-game total offense records and four of the top nine single-game passing yards records in school history.

In 2016, his junior year, he enjoyed a record-breaking season leading his team to a 9-2 record, shattering many of the game and season records previously set by Trevor Harris (now playing in the Canadian Football League for the Ottawa REDBLACKS). He was named to the Don Hansen Football Gazette Super Region One third team after setting school records with 3,710 yards passing and 41 TDs. He completed 294-of-531 passes, setting Edinboro season records for attempts, completions, yards passing, touchdowns, and total offense. He was also third on the team in rushing with 114 yards and 4 TDs on 63 carries

The Wild Boars won their third straight Serbian title in 2018 and in addition to playing in the Serbian league will also be competing in the Central European Football League.

Wild Boars: How did you end up signing with the Wild Boars?

Sisson: I had some other offers all around Europe, I can tell you their were teams in Italy, Poland, GFL2, Spain, Turkey, and one or two other countries but I chose to come to the Wild Boars because of the prestige of winning they have set over the last couple seasons in being Serbian national champions. Another big factor was the feeling I got from the coaches in talking to them that this group is a tight knit family of guys who play for one another and that is more important to me than winning any championships because playing for one another breeds championships and I just can’t wait to get out there and meet all the guys and get to work!

Wild Boars: How much did you know about the Wild Boars and football in Serbia?

Sisson: So I know more about the Wild Boars than football in Serbia in general, you know as well as I do they have set a precedent lately. In competing and winning Serbian championships as well as competing with the best in all of Europe. As for football in Serbia I know there are competitive teams in Serbia that we will face. Football from what I’ve heard is on the rise in Serbia and all over Europe and I know going to a team like the Boars we will have big expectations but I feel when I get there and get to know my teammates we can shatter expectations.

Wild Boars: What are your expectations for the season?

Sisson: What I expect from the season both Serbian league wise and CEFL wise is to just go out there and take each game like a championship, because if you play each game all out with everything you got I know that with the talent already on the team we can get to where we want to get to.
