In a thrilling season opener in the Czech Snapbacks League, the Prerov Mammoths narrowly defeated the Pilsen Patriots 35-34 in a game that showcased both teams’ offensive improvements. With both teams entering the season with high hopes, this matchup did not disappoint.

Early momentum shifts
The game kicked off with the Patriots taking an early lead thanks to a touchdown from Patrik Vainer to Matěj Urban. However, the Mammoths quickly responded, with Nicolas Visser scoring a 1-yard touchdown to put them ahead 7-6. Visser continued to shine, connecting with Zdeněk Šulák for another touchdown, extending the lead to 14-6 at the start of the second quarter.

A back-and-forth battle
The Mammoths kept the pressure on, with Jakub Smolík adding a 49-yard touchdown to make it 21-6. But the Patriots weren’t done yet. Just before halftime, Vainer found David Hlaváček in the end zone, closing the gap to 21-12. The Mammoths struck again early in the third quarter, but the Patriots fought back, scoring two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to make it a nail-biter.
