Sweden: Carlstad Crusaders add Serbian lineman Damjan Tomasevic for 2026 title run
The reigning Swedish Superserien champion Carlstad Crusaders have fortified their trenches for the 2026 season, signing versatile Serbian lineman Damjan Tomasevic, who joins the team after two standout years with the Örebro Black Knights.
A versatile veteran presence
Tomasevic, a 6’4″, 247-pound lineman with experience on both sides of the ball, brings a wealth of high-level European experience to Carlstad. He most recently anchored an Örebro Black Knights offensive line that produced the most rushing yards in the league last season while playing left tackle. Prior to his time in Sweden, he played for Serbia’s top program, SBB Vukovi Beograd, from 2020-2023 after beginning his career with the Kraljevo Royal Crowns (2015-2019). His background also includes reps at defensive end, adding valuable flexibility for the Crusaders.
Coach values experience and adaptability
Carlstad head coach Christian Forsman emphasized the value of Tomasevic’s well-rounded game:
“It feels great to bring in a veteran with experience on both sides of the ball. He comes from an offensive line unit that produced the most rushing yards in the league last year. He has played left tackle the past two years but also gives us the flexibility and opportunity to move him to the defensive line if needed.”
This adaptability could prove crucial as Carlstad manages injuries and matchups throughout the season.
Ready to contribute to a winner
Tomasevic, familiar with the Crusaders from his time as an opponent, expressed enthusiasm about joining the organization:
“Over the past two years, I have played a couple games against the Crusaders, and they were always special. It is a team with a big history and great organization.”
He also made the team’s ambitions clear:
“Like every year, the goal is to win the championship. The Crusaders have been champions for the past two seasons and continuing that winning run is always a big challenge. One we are ready to take on.”
His arrival strengthens Carlstad’s depth as they pursue a third consecutive Superserien title.
