Sweden: Stockholm Mean Machines lock in QB Dawson Herl for 2026 season

The Stockholm Mean Machines have secured a major boost for their 2026 Swedish Superserien campaign by re-signing quarterback Dawson Herl. The 6’3”, 212-pound signal-caller from Independence, Missouri showed flashes of excellence in his abbreviated 2025 stint before a season-ending injury cut his year short.

A brief but impressive 2025 showing
In just three games with the Mean Machines last season, Herl put up remarkable numbers, throwing for 857 yards and 11 touchdowns without a single interception. His efficient, poised play instantly elevated the team’s offense before his injury during a Central European Football League matchup against the Warsaw Eagles.

Collegiate experience across multiple programs
Herl brings a wealth of experience from his college career. He was a sixth-year senior at the University of Central Oklahoma (NCAA Division II), where he transferred from Missouri Southern State in 2023. In his lone season with the Broncos, he threw for 1,667 yards and 14 touchdowns across 10 games. During his time at Missouri Southern, Herl accumulated over 3,000 passing yards and 21 touchdowns across two seasons, adding 275 rushing yards and four scores on the ground.

With his dual degrees in Business Administration and Insurance and Risk Management, Herl offers both intelligence and athleticism—a combination the Mean Machines are eager to welcome back as they prepare for 2026.
